My “2011” was the abs tour to britain 1972_73…(im just a bit older than you armand)….the controversial 1981 boks tour sticks in my mind where i got a free seat at athletic park for the 2nd test….meeting the biggest man in the whole world hennie bekker, pre match.
My fav player and still is was the incomparable sidney milton going at halfback…yet i became a flanker!
Its the best game in the world armand no doubt.
in my day back then there werent that many polynesian players around in nz as opposed to today.
i used to lead our wellington boys college 1st xv haka although im samoan as we had no maoris and they all thought i was maori.
pre professional rugby i will always remember playing against all blacks like the whettons bunce fitzpatrick playing with michael jones etc. Thrill for me.
it still grabs my whole body my whole soul.
If you’re not careful it will consume you armand and dictate your mood.
My sons always have me on about how they have and still play on eden park and i never did or will.
But then again…they will never play on athletic park like i did.
